Simone Quattrocchi

Hey! I’m Simone Quattrocchi, a computer programmer from Italy living in Zürich.

I have 12+ years of experience as a full stack developer building web and mobile applications across Europe. I have an extensive startup and agency background, which taught me how to integrate effectively with diverse teams and adapt to fast-moving environments.

I value software architecture design. I have deep expertise in the JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystems and I often explore other languages and environments out of curiosity or when a project needs it. I'm also actively exploring applied AI, from building with LLM agents to tinkering with local models. I like to bring a strong eye for clean, minimalist UI design to the products I work on.

What I'm working on

Breadboard [2025 - present].
A modern HyperCard for web apps.

Breadboard is a visual app builder that combines a Figma-style canvas for UI design with Apple Shortcuts-style logic. Instead of writing code or connecting node graphs, users define behavior by stacking instructions using a syntax based on Hyperscript. An integrated AI assistant with a BYOK approach helps users with design tasks. I'm the sole developer owning the entire stack – frontend, backend, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps –.

Past Projects

Qualifier ~ Singular AG → Control AG [2021 - 2025].
I led the full technical rebuild of a SaaS platform for BIM (Building Information Modeling) quality assurance.

To solve usability, performance and cloud billing issues, I transitioned the architecture from microservices to a monolithic application running on a single VPS. The biggest bottleneck was data extraction, so I moved this process to the client, extracting data from IFC files and storing it in SQLite running through WASM directly in the browser. This resolved the frequent crashes and eliminated the 30-minute wait times. Storing the data in SQLite also enabled me to rewrite the rule-checking engine from scratch, making it extremely fast and reliable. Given the client was handling an important amount of data, I intentionally avoided a full frontend framework and developed a pure MVC solution from scratch. I took care of all aspects, from architecture and backend to frontend, design, and DevOps.

AL0 ~ Fuji Computer [2020 - 2021].
I founded Fuji Computer and designed, developed, and marketed AL0, a minimalistic smartphone environment for Android.

With AL0 I wanted to help Android users get a less distracted experience on their smartphone. Following an approach similar to the Light Phone 2, I developed apps for making phone calls, messages, alarms, calendar, and camera, and wrapped them in a single application launcher. I used the pin screen feature to avoid getting bothered with all the other distractions on the phone, so the user was able to have a dumb-phone on demand without the need to buy a spare device. I took care of the full product lifecycle from concept to launch.

Startups & Agency Work [2013 - 2020].

I worked on a large number of projects with many startups, both directly and through agencies, with local and remote based teams, giving help to release MVPs and optimise digital products. To name just a selection, I led the frontend development on the Wanderio travel platform, the Talent Garden app, Translated.com, and Jukedeck (an AI music generation tool winning the TechCrunch Disrupt London 2015), collaborating directly with teams or through studios like Moze in Milan and Neverbland in London.
