Simquat is a technology studio that builds digital tools with no frills.

I’m inspired by Kigumi, the art of wood joinery. When I build, what I take away is just as important as what I keep. Having a landfill of features is distracting, and in the long term destroys the product itself. I want my software lightweight, fast, and built to last.

I do both design and engineering, there is no separation in the process. Design is grounded in technology, and technology serves the design. I don't rely on heavy frameworks, endless third-party dependencies, or LLM-generated code. I build the whole product, from start to finish.

Case Studies

AL0 is a smartphone environment for Android.

I built it to remove all the digital noise, notifications, popups, social media, blobs of colors and sounds. The interface is based on a small number of utilitarian text-first black and white UI elements, combined to implement the essential features of a mobile phone: telephone, calendar, clock, camera, torch, calculator.

Qualifier is a tool for quality assurance on building industry models.

I rebuilt the software from scratch. I implemented a precise, performant rule-checking engine, and paired it with an intuitive user interface. Users can write tests and view results in real-time, directly on the 3D model. I moved the backend from a slow, bug-prone and expensive microservices-based architecture, to a faster and reliable monolithic architecture on a cheaper machine.

Breadboard is a modern HyperCard for the web.

While everyone rushes toward LLM-based app generators, I see the limits of inaccessible black boxes hiding piles of glued-together code. I looked back to a vintage product, HyperCard, which felt fresher and more relevant. Users can draw user interfaces in the canvas, click on elements and define behavior by composing cards based on natural language programming. What the user builds in the canvas can be exported as a fully working web app.

About

I’m Simone Quattrocchi. I’ve built software with startups and agencies across Europe, and I’ve seen firsthand how bloat kills good ideas. I partner with focused entrepreneurs who know exactly what they want to build, with zero frills.
